Delhi Restaurant, Mustafa Singapore

16th June 2013
Had lunch at this restaurant today. We ordered 2 Tandoori Rotis (without Butter), an Aloo Baingan and a couple of pints of Heineken to wash it down with.

Cleanliness - 8/10
Food Quality - 4/10
Ambience - 8/10
Speed of Service - 8/10

Repeatable Business - Would go but no strong reason/attraction to it.

What I liked about this place is its ease of access. Jump out of Mustafa and there it is.. bang on the corner. Easy to locate, fast service. Food however was pretty plain. Aloo Baingan is something which can be made pretty interesting and its for some folks who love eggplant. However I found this rendition of Aloo Baingan to be standard..

Cheers!

Chotiwala Restaurant - RISHIKESH - Highly overrated

As part of my extensive travels, i ended up in Rishikesh. At the insistence of one of my friends who is a local (so called).. we hiked up to Chotiwala - me, wife in tow and two cranky kids in the middle of summer heat in Rishikesh. First of all the ambience puts you off.. if you are still bravehearted you will go to a seat. There are tons of flies everywhere.. we paused to take a look at the menu. From Mumbai standards the prices seem to be reasonable, but comparing with average rishikesh restaurant prices, they are up about 20% over the norm. We then decided to try some standard fare.. we thought their Thali would be a good bet since it would be their fastest moving item. except the waiter who was all smiles and trying to help, the Thali was a disaster..

Cleanliness - 1/10
Food Quality - 3/10
Ambience - 2/10
Speed of Service - 8/10
Repeatable Business - Avoid going there

Folks from the West - i would strongly advise you to have a strong stomach before you enter Chotiwala ... the spices would kill you and if that doesnt the hygiene level definitely will!
